“Yellow Ledbetter”早在1991年就录制了. 之后作为”Jeremy”的单曲B面发行. 没有官方的歌词. 从1993年第一次现场以来, 几乎每次Eddie Vedder都唱了不同的歌词. 我根据多个不同版本的现场歌词, handcode了这个版本. 不完善, 但大意有了.

Mansun – Legacy ->

09年是上个Decade的最后一年. 很多媒体列出了各自不同的Decade List/Decade Review/Best of the Decade. 我觉得自己应该也可以试图列出个List, 看看刚过去这十年我到底听了些什么东西.

按照现在的状况, 我还是以RLZ的形式给出. 因为近几年不听盘了, 自己所有现存的盘当下也不在自己手上. 我只能在我那几十G的MP3Z里找出一些我印象相对最深的. 我大概02-03年开始接触MP3 RLZ, 从那时候开始攒了不少东西. 后来有些删减, 有数据丢失, 还有对更早的一些专辑的搜寻, 现在看来基本上还是足以应付这么个List的了, 或者说是足以代表我了.

当然那几个值得看看的媒体的List, 我还是一并给出. 至于上传哪里, 怎么下载我就不明说了. 线索是明显的. 虽然访问人数是稀少的, 但我还是有点担心这个实名的blog会不会给我带来什么麻烦 (我是说我放在这上面的东西).

What I had in mind:

换个顺序, 自己的东西放前面. 上个十年对我影响比较大的15个releases, 按时间顺序:

Tool-Lateralus-(RETAIL)-2001-PMS

Tool在这十年里出了第三张和第四张录音室专辑, 2001年的”Lateralus”和2006年的”10,000 Days”, 均在Volcano Entertainment旗下. 我更倾向于前者, 原因我忘了.

Incubus-Morning_View-2001-CSR

我很喜欢Incubus. 大概是07年的时候他们第一次来中国巡演的时候 (虽然大陆只有北京, 上海两站) 我有幸在上海看过他们现场, 应该是我看过的最好的现场. 他们最好的肯定是1999年的”Make Yourself”, 我不知道听过多少遍, 大概是无数遍.

“Morning View”明显是商业化了的一张, 相对于前作修饰得有点过了. 我敢说”Morning View”里这些歌的现场会比录音室版本有质感得多. 制作人同样是Scott Litt, 怎么搞成这样, 整出来的东西太圆润而缺乏冲击力, 太想要讨好听众, 缺失了很多它本来的东西. 不管怎么说, 乐队的创作和整体表现还是要强于之后的两张录音室专辑, A Crow Left of the Murder… (2004)和Light Grenades (2006). 2009年乐队发行了双张精选”Monuments and Melodies”.

补充两句. Incubus颇具力度的吉他Riff中内敛着细腻的精心构思; 旋律化的一面中, 有些东方异域风情的吉他Solo又总是出现的恰到好处. 而两方面都会适可而止, 不会让人觉得腻. 鼓声和贝司的表现一直都很稳健, 保证了乐队的声音有一副强健的骨骼. DJ丰富了乐队的音乐元素, 在传统乐器之外添上了一层更有时代感的音效. Brandon Boyd嗓音的表现力和个人魅力在同辈的乐队中实属罕见. Incubus应该是比较成功地在Alt-Rock的大框架下定义了一种标志性的美学.

Zero7-Simple_Things-Retail-2001-iDX

如果要在上一个十年找一张能跟Air 1998年的”Moon Safari”相比的, 那就是Zero 7的第一张录音室专辑”Simple Things”. 其实听起来两张有很多类似. 从”Simple Things”里, 我基本听到了我会对一张Downtempo/Trip-hop唱片所期待的所有东西, Sia的嗓音也是亮点之一. 这种90年代风格的电子也越来越难听到了…

Cinematic_Orchesta-Everyday-2002-RNS

大概上大学开始比较迷所谓 Nu-Jazz/Acid-Jazz. 那几年陆陆续续听过一些Ninja Tune和Talkin’ Loud的东西. The Cinematic Orchestra我之前有给过Discography. 这张不用多说了, Masterpiece!

Blur-Think_Tank-ADVANCE-2003-XXL

Blur的第七张也是最近的一张录音室专辑, 上个十年的唯一一张, 也很有可能是最后一张. 乐队有重组过, 但是新专辑应该遥遥无期了.

什么音乐风格变化如何如何, 我就懒得扯了. 他们每一张应该都是有相当的深度的, 他们能拿捏表现的范围之广是绝大多数英伦乐队难以企及的. 但是有一点, 不管它怎么折腾, 它就是好听, 而且相当好听. 在我看来比Radiohead “OK Computer” 之后的那些 overrated 的专辑要好听.

Hoobastank-The_Reason-(Retail)-2003-RNS

Hoobastank从2001年开始在主流唱片公司旗下发唱片, 之前有一些Self-Produced专辑. 我听过无数遍的其实是2001年的同名专辑, 但是我从来没找到过RLS, 所以就列了这张.

从录音室专辑来看, 他们归根结底就是流行, 挂上Post-Grunge/Alternative的标签有点多余. 四张专辑基本上是一张不如一张, 最后越搞越低俗. 好在前两张旋律和歌词朗朗上口, 深受广大劳动人民的喜爱.

Stone_Sour-Stone_Sour_(Digipack)-reissue-2003-REP

Corey Taylor的旧部. 因为Slipknot当年拿到了唱片合约, 原Stone Sour的几位成员暂时放弃了自己原先的Line-up, 部分加入了Slipknot. 2001年, 在Slipknot发表完第二张专辑”Iowa”后的间隙, Stone Sour的旧军才得以重组, 2002年同在和Slipknot签约的Roadrunner旗下发表了同名专辑. 之后Corey等人基本是交替转战在两支乐队之间, 至今两张录音室专辑. 第三张应该在今年(2010)晚些时候发行.

与Slipknot相比, S.S.更有传统摇滚的风范, 音乐中流露出更多Corey个人的影子. 在经典摇滚的骨骼之外, S.S.也披挂着很多90年代Alt-Rock乐队的特质, 例如Corey伺机的嘶吼, Grunge音色的Metal-Riff. 这张沉淀多年的专辑被这几位老道的乐手洗刷出了一道道岁月沧桑的痕迹.

A_Perfect_Circle-Thirteenth_Step-(Retail)-2003-FNT

Tool主音的旁系, 或者说Alt-Rock的Super-group. 怎么说呢, 有点把Progressive Metal和Alternative的美学结合在一起的意思. 编曲更接近传统摇滚, 旋律更柔美一些, 但不乏惊艳的想象力和冲击力. 对比2000的”Mer de Noms”, “Thirteenth Step”在音乐上挖掘出了更深广的层次感, 细节构思得更加精妙, 让听者体会到了更多的新意.

Mansun-Kleptomania-3CD-2004-UKi

从高中开始, 如果我承认有一支最喜欢的乐队, 那就是Mansun. 乐队的名字, 有一说是引用美国杀人团伙”Manson Family”并故意修改了拼写; 领一说是根据The Verve的第一张EP的一首B-Side, “A Man Called Sun”, 然后做了缩写. 我个人更倾向于第二种说法.

可能是因为生长在南方, 骨子里还是更倾向于那种内敛阴郁的东西. 90年代这帮吉他飘渺, 人声忧郁, 旋律柔美的英伦乐队里, Mansun的声音好像正好找准了那个点, 刺中了我的要害, 我也没办法. 可能跟当时自己的个人感情经历也有些关系.

为什么是这张呢? Mansun 2000年发行了第三张录音室专辑”Little Kix”, 之后就差不多解散了. 2004年的”Kleptomania”其实是未完成的第四张录音室加上了一大堆乱七八糟的东西, 因为录音录了一半乐队就彻底散伙了, 不存在了. 2006年唱片公司整了一张精选集. 首先, 我不把合集或者精选集当唱片; 我从来没找到过”Little Kix”的RLS; 所以只有这张了. 因为是Mansun真正意义上最后的作品, 所以价值超过了唱片本身的东西. 唱片公司之所以加上EP tracks, outtakes和demos做成3CD, 应该是为了安慰我们这些粉丝.

其实他们的东西现在听起来实话说是有点怪的. 主音嗓音感觉有点过, 能感觉出有些受New Wave的影响, 后期的创作也很有些不尽人意的地方. 现在自己应该也不会对一个特定的东西如何如何

Mouse_on_Mars-Radical_Connector-Advance-(Sonig)-2004-DPS

IDM, 不能没有IDM. 对电子乐的追随最终终止在IDM. Mouse on Mars是来自德国的二人电子团体, 一人来自Köln, 一人来自Düsseldorf (好像这两个城市世仇). 我不知道, M.O.M.相对多产, 我没有听全过. 找了找这张是我印象最深的一张IDM.

Seether-Disclaimer_II-2004-RNS

“Disclaimer II”是Seether离开南非转投Wind-Up旗下后, 2002年的第一张录音室专辑”Disclaimer”的一个混音再发行. 因为我没有2002年那张的RLS, 所以列这张. 实际上就是同一张专辑. 乐队的名字其实很有意思, 出于Veruca Salt 1994年的一首歌, “Seether”.

那帮Post-Grunge里, Seether更加地Grunge. 唉…….Grunge那点事我就不罗唆了. 像90年代那些乐队一样, 用自己整个生命在吟唱的现在还能听到的恐怕只有Seether了.

System_Of_A_Down-Hypnotize_(Retail)-2005-XXL / System_Of_A_Down-Mezmerize-2005-RNS

……..我已经有点厌烦现在在整的这篇东西了……….

SOAD, 新金属的代表之一, 乐队四人均是亚美尼亚后裔. 2005年SOAD一口气整出了两张录音室专辑, “Mezmerize”和”Hypnotize”词义都差不多, 反映了乐队的政治取向 (他们好像说他们没什么政治取向). 然后散伙了: 主音Serj Tankian单飞; 吉他手和鼓手组成了Scars on Broadway. 大家该干嘛干嘛.

Beck-Guero-ADVANCE_CD-2005-BPM

看到这的人估计都快吐了…..我也有点.

Beck的第九张录音室专辑, 主流唱片公司旗下的第六张. 民谣电子等多种音乐元素的杂糅体, 器乐元素也很丰富. Beck多年以来的这种杂糅手法应该对现今的很多Indie乐队有过不少的启迪. 我不是特别喜欢他比较纯粹的民谣专辑.

Amplifier-Amplifier-2CD-Advance-2005-JUST

曼城的Progressive/Space rock. 又一张令人惊艳的英伦乐队Debut. 专辑原本于2004年发行, 这个RLS是2005年做Reissue时的双张版本.

Kings_Of_Leon-Only_By_The_Night-2008-404

南方摇滚. 应该可以成为这个年代的经典之一.

非常非常不好意思,这个时候才在这里更新去年的List (如果确实有人在乎的话).

这篇东西, 我之前在今年年初的时候, 已经在renren.com以日志的形式贴出来了. 当时wzhang.org因为域名解析的原因一直无法正常访问. 去年接近年底开始, 一直因为忙于PhD申请的事, 没办法顾及这个Blog. 现在把这篇东西补上, 并做一些细小的修改.

其实还是老样子. 整年都很累, 听的东西不多. 还是0day Release和Spotify, 不买盘(因为没钱). 如果Spotify没有, 0day又找不到就直接忽略, 我也不可能有时间跟精力去找. 对新东西还是怀疑的接受, 身边也没什么真正听点东西的人可以交流. Anyway, 整个list我都以MP3Z Release的形式给出, 每个item title都链接到我的skydrive! 排名不分先后.

The_Ting_Tings-We_Started_Nothing-2008-RTB

The Ting Tings和Fleet Foxes都是我后知后觉, 08年就发行了. 很可惜, 直到09年的单曲”We Walk”才听到The Ting Tings. 一开始以为是英伦舞曲新贵, 看了现场才确定其indie的出生. 两人包办器乐人声, 没有过多的商业修饰. 节奏轻快, 旋律朗朗上口. Katie White气质很特别, 很正.

Fleet_Foxes-Fleet_Foxes-(Advance)-2008-DV8

后来才顿悟, 为什么这张唱片可以拿到08年众多年终评选的头把交椅. 终于有所了解, 为什么说Fleet Foxes的声音里找不到时代的痕迹. Seattle Based indie folk乐队在Sub Pop旗下的Debut Album. 给人一种北国圣歌民谣的感觉, 丝毫没有被世俗所侵扰. 有挪威血统的主音Robin Pecknold年仅23, 声线拿捏地却相当老道.

Andrew_Bird-Noble_Beast-(Advance)-2009-DV8

09年年初的作品. Andrew Bird, 来自Chicago, IL的singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, 毕业于Northwestern University, B.S. in Violin Performance. 加盟Fat Possum后的第二张录音室专辑, 个人的第五张专辑. 整张唱片营造了一种清新恬静的意境, 器乐元素相当丰富, 体现了他个人深厚的音乐修养.

Bill_Callahan-Sometimes_I_Wish_We_Were_An_Eagle-2009-404

从05年开始, Bill Callahan a.k.a. Smog, 开始用本名发表作品. 不同于他早年的Lo-Fi实验先锋, Acoustic器乐成了近些年专辑的主导. 给人印象最深的是他的嗓音, 男中音的音色. 整个人声的旋律都被肢解成短小的一节一节, 被Bill一口一口地, 有些慵懒但稳健, 又有些无奈和忧愁地吟了出来. 好像是年少时的声嘶力竭都已经被岁月磨平成了这几声叹息, 很有些味道.

Mastodon-Crack_The_Skye-2009-VAG

今年Metal的重头戏, 这只来自Atlanta, GA的猛兽的第四声嘶吼. 在我看来胜过同年的,progressive metal大师Dream Theater的新作”Black Clouds & Silver Things”. 不得不提的是, 同样来自Virginia的Baroness. Baroness的第二张专辑”Blue Record”丝毫不逊色于”Crack The Sky”, 我只是更倾向于金属的这个位置给Mastodon. 概念化的”Crack the Skye”完成地相当纯熟; 人声,吉他,鼓声交替的涌来, 汇成一股凶猛的洪流, 把你冲向一个神秘而未知的方向.

Kasabian-West_Ryder_Pauper_Lunatic_Asylum-2009-DV8

英伦无人了, 人都死光了. 我们来看看09年的Mercury Prize: 得奖的是个搞说唱的家伙, Nominees里头什么Glasvegas, La Roux一股80年代味. 什么80年代回潮, 离90s越来越远, 前方一片黑暗. 英伦需要一支能在Wembley Arena煽动数万男女老少一起吼的乐队, 今年它就是Kasabian, 不是录音室专辑没法听的The Horrors.

Gomez-A_New_Tide-2009-404

英伦Southport的五位绅士的第六张录音室专辑, 比以往多了些伤感. 最后我拿掉了同是英伦的Engineers的”Three Fact Fader”, 留下了这张. “A New Tide”显然不是他们最好的东西, 也说不出相对前作还有什么不同, 但还是听到了些期待的声音. 整张唱片也许是怀旧多于了新意.

Antony_and_the_Johnsons-The_Crying_Light-2009-ONe

唱片封面是Butoh Dancer,大野一雄的黑白照. Antony and the Johnsons由主音Antony Hegarty领军, 其他成员负责弦乐和打击乐的演奏, 作品创作主要由Antony和其他作曲家完成. Antony是个同性恋, 但他优雅的颤音似乎淡化了人声中性别的界限. 不同于前作沉浸于个人情感的悲伤之中, 这次Antony似乎在警示人类地球气候变化将带来的悲剧.

Kings_of_Convenience-Declaration_of_Dependence-2009-ONe

Bergen的indie pop duo, 跨别五年之后的新作. 器乐更加简单, 两人纯净的和声贯穿了十三首精致的小曲.

Dan_Deacon-Bromst-2009-DV8

这是个last minute decision, 原因就是不希望电子乐缺席. Dan Deacon这个Baltimore, MD的疯子居然和我是同一年生的, 生日还比我小几天…老天太不公平了…我如此命苦, 他却随便搞搞就红了. 整张专辑介于白噪音和电子乐之间. 虽然我对比较偏舞曲的节拍没有多少好感, 但各种变态音色的杂糅着实给了听者一次意想不到的听觉经历, 或者就是干脆被吓到了. 但建议不要听太多, 不然可能跟Dan一样变成个疯子.

重组后中规中矩的新作. Scott Stapp已经完全不在状态了, 亮点仍然在吉他手Mark Tremonti身上.

Placebo-Battle_For_The_Sun-2009-FWYH

Lineup更换之后的第六张录音室专辑, 有些惊喜.

Phoenix-Wolfgang_Amadeus_Phoenix-2009-404 / Camera_Obscura-My_Maudlin_Career-(Advance)-2009-DV8

两支在欧洲活跃多年的indie乐队. 09年的新作都得到了广泛的正面评价, 但我觉得还是前作更优秀.

两支哥德堡本土的电子. jj来自本地电子厂牌Sincerely yours; Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer Andersson) 是顶顶大名的The Knife的主音. 但对他们我还需要更多的时间来接受.
